How's it going my gumdrops? You know how I always talk about Shojo Anime constantly being blacklisted, unless it's Sailor Moon (as if Sailor Moon is the only Shojo Anime to exist)? Today, I have the Mahou Shojo Anime (Magical Girl Anime), which is Shugo Chara! (Chara is pronounced as Kyara in Japanese). This Shojo Anime is similar to Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura. Shugo Chara! has existed for the last 7 years and it has yet to be English dubbed. I used to religiously watch Anime, when I was still searching for jobs and recovering from my health scare. Shugo Chara! was 1 of the main shows, that I really enjoyed watching. Chances are slim to none, that anyone will license this series for an English Dub and air it on American channels. Shugo Chara! is more of a Kodomo (meaning "Children's") Anime and its main audience would most likely be girls in their 'tweens. However, it's still a decent Anime, that adults can watch. Some of Shugo Chara's content is sexually suggestive, although it's not an R-rated show.
As I was saying Shugo Chara! is a Magical Girl Anime, that began airing in Japan 7 years ago. It was a perennial series, which had 4 seasons. After Shugo Chara's 1st season, there was Shugo Chara!! Doki, Shugo Chara! Party!, and Shugo Chara!!! Dokki Doki! The show's main premise revolves around Amu Hinamori. If memory serves me right, she was in 3rd or 4th grade, during the 1st season. Regardless, Amu is an elementary school girl, who's mother dresses her in "trendy" Goth Punk Clothing. Everyone including Amu's family always refer to her as being "cool and spicy," since her image appears to be mean and cold towards people. Amu is the "misunderstood type of girl," who looks like she shops at Hot Topic. LOL! In contrast to Amu's image around her Seiyo Elementary student body, she's really an introverted character, that wishes for the courage to confidently express herself.
The next day, Amu wakes up and finds 3 warm eggs in her bed, which are 3 of her Shugo Charas. In Japanese, Shugo Chara means "guardian character." Ran is the very 1st Shugo Chara to hatch. She wears pink and represents Amu's wish to be more honest, confident, and athletic. The 2nd Shugo Chara, that's in blue is Miki. Miki represents Amu's wish to be more sharp, level-headed, and artistic. Su is Amu's 3rd Shugo Chara. She wears green and represents Amu's wish to be more caring, sensitive, and her need to improve her domestic skills. Amu's last Shugo Chara is Diamond and is supposedly the most powerful of all guardian characters. Diamond doesn't appear in the Shugo Chara! series, until the 4th season. Diamond is mostly referred to as "Daya," which is short for Diamond. She represents Amu's wish to be calmer and more optimistic.
Throughout Shugo Chara!, Tadase, Kairi, and Ikuto develop crushes for Amu. Yes, there is a harem of boys in the series. LOL! Meanwhile, it's mostly a love triangle among Amu, Tadase, and Ikuto. As I watched every Shugo Chara! season, I always felt Ikuto borderlined having pedophelic tendencies. LOL! He's a teenager, who is flirting with an elementary school girl. Then again, in the Manga, Amu and Ikuto become a couple, after they're older. She has the Humpty Lock and he has the Dumpty Key. The more I think about the Humpty Lock, Dumpty Key, and the guardian characters being eggs of the heart, I automatically think about the old English nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty. Rather than over explaining the entire Anime, here's Shugo Chara! from the beginning!
