How's it going my gumdrops? Earlier this morning, Adult Swim aired the series finale of the Seinen Sci Fi Horror Anime, Parasyte -The Maxim-. Several weeks ago, I had pre-watched the last 3 episodes on Hulu in Japanese. Watching the series on Adult Swim was only a recap for me in English.
Regardless, no viewer can say that Parasyte was a dull show. It was always filled with suspense, especially toward the last few minutes. It is disappointing that Adult Swim didn't acquire the rights to another Seinen Anime to replace Parasyte -The Maxim-.
Last week, I created a thread on Adult Swim mildly ranting, while somewhat joking about the network replacing this Seinen Sci Fi Horror Anime with the stereotypical Shonen Jump Action Anime. Hunter X Hunter is Parasyte's replacement. I watched Hunter X Hunter's promo, last weekend. The show looks very cheesy, generic, and childish for what is supposed to be for adult viewers.
Hunter X Hunter looks more generic and childish than Naruto. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching the original Naruto, before the entire franchise became Sasuke centric. Adult Swim's Toonami, however was supposed to be "more mature" and wanted to "grow up" the original Toonami fans from Cartoon Network.
Toonami was meant for CHILDREN to watch on Cartoon Network, years ago.
The latest acquisitions are regressions for the ADULT viewers, that Jason DeMarco and Adult Swim claimed to have been trying to grow up. Not only did the network acquire the rights to Hunter X Hunter, but the cartoon, Samurai Jack is also being revived with another season sometime this year. Samurai Jack was a CHILDREN'S cartoon on Cartoon Network.
Whatever happened to that 2012 speech by The Adult Swim Team claiming, that Toonami would be airing "more mature content" on Adult Swim than on Cartoon Network?
Anyway, I didn't go into a fit of rage about Hunter X Hunter replacing Parasyte. In fact, my thread was going pretty well on Adult Swim. That was until the butt-hurt Toonami brats showed up to tell me, that I was "whining."
Toonami fans obviously do NOT realize, that they are THE MOST HATED group of Anime fans. Being an Anime fan was already a taboo in its country, Japan.
Aside from that issue in Japan, Toonami fans in America are the worst type of Anime fans in existence. People always consider Anime Otakus and Weeaboos to be laughing stocks, but at least they know how to enjoy Anime. Toonami fans are the omegas of the Anime fandom.
When Cartoon Network canceled the original Toonami block nearly 10 years ago, a lot of Toonami fans spent YEARS on social media sites and message boards whining about not having a talking CGI robot and his talking computer.
Those Anime fans NEED a talking CGI robot and his computer to get them excited about watching their favorite shows like they are 5-year-olds. Toonami fans also care more about and are OBSESSED with cartoon ratings than enjoying what they are watching; They psychoanalyze shows down to their ratings.
In addition, the Toonami fans spend most of their time nit picking every person with opposing views and treat other fans within their OWN fan base like they are on trial for NOT liking THEIR particular shows. They are like an extremist cult group of fans holding onto their childhood nostalgia.
It's to the extent that YouTube vloggers stopped posting vlogs about Toonami and had to block some Toonami fans on their social media fan pages. This also applies to Jason DeMarco and he was the person, who brought back Toonami for the Toonami fans.
As I was saying earlier, I really enjoyed Parasyte -The Maxim- and would love to see a similar Seinen Anime air on Adult Swim. I tried to joke about Parasyte being replaced with a childish-looking Anime and got some feedback from more mature Adult Swim fans. They agreed and said they wanted something similar to Parayste as well.
Meanwhile, the crybaby Toonami fans killed the entire mood in my thread by trying to provoke me into having petty arguments and NEEDING me to prove them wrong. To give you a better impression of the social environment on Adult Swim's forum, this video is a perfect example.
The Ridiculousness On Adult Swim's Message Board
The video above is something I am re-sharing with you all. Someone already shared this YouTube video on Adult Swim's message board, nights ago. Be glad you do NOT belong to Adult Swim's forum.
After joining, nearly 2 years ago, the social environment really changed my views about the network. There may be some decent posters on that cartoon message board, but there are those who are terrible reflections of the network.
Had I never made any friends over there, I would've left after the first 2 weeks of joining.
Whenever I turn on my TV to watch Adult Swim, I feel so disgusted that it sometimes feels like I caught a really bad stomach flu. That is how corrupt Adult Swim and its community really are for those who never joined.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching Parasyte -The Maxim-. It's a series that really keeps viewers on their toes. If you are an Anime lover like myself, do NOT watch Anime for ratings. Watch it because you enjoy Japanese animation.
