How's it going my gumdrops? It is refreshing to see more of you enjoying the last 2 Song Saturday blogs. Maybe I should've shared more Michael Jackson on It's Not All Gumdrops & Unicorns, after all.
Last night, Adult Swim pre-empted their regular Toonami block, in order to marathon Gundam IBO for Halloween. There's NOTHING Halloween or Horror themed about the series in the slightest, which defeated the purpose of airing it. Then again, it really shouldn't be a surprise, since it is Adult Swim.
Even though I ignored last night's programming, I did manage to see an actual Classic Beavis and Butt-Head episode on MTV Classic. MTV finally aired an older episode of the show dating all the way back to 1995 rather than the same 2011 reboot episodes. However, MTV Classic kept repeating THE SAME Beavis and Butt-Head Halloween Special back to back to back.
Recently, I noticed that MTV Classic seems invested in airing MORE Daria episodes than Beavis and Butt-Head episodes. Daria was a spinoff character from Beavis and Butt-Head. They had more seasons YET her show gets more airtime on MTV Classic than Beavis and Butt-Head. I find this to be rather strange and illogical.
Maybe MTV is overcompensating for the fact, that Daria was suppose to be rebooted much like Beavis and Butt-Head but it never came to fruition.
As much as I LOVE both Liquid Television Animation shows, MTV seems like they are subtly trying to minimize, if not blacklist Beavis and Butt-Head. It Is bad enough that the network lied and misled us veteran fans into thinking, that MTV was supposedly "returning to its roots."
The current president sucks and needs to be fired. It's quite evident that he doesn't know which direction to go with MTV Classic. The network is 1/2 VH1 Classic before the rebranding and 1/2 MTV Classic combined.
I have not visited
VH1 Classic's MTV Classic's facebook page in 1-2 months. Therefore, I don't know if other viewers became more irate and unruly as they were 1-2 months ago. Either way, veteran MTV fans have been cheated and misled by the network's false advertising.
Speaking of Daria, it has been a while, since I last shared a Daria episode(s) for Cartoon Sunday. Because she as well as MTV in general were major parts of my adolescence, I am sharing 1 episode, which has more Supernatural themes to it.
"Legends Of The Mall" is an episode I vaguely remember. This episode is the 10th episode from the 4th season and it has been 16 years, since I had last watched it. Explaining this episode to you makes me feel like an old lady.
I was still in high school in 2000.
As I was saying, "Legends Of The Mall" is a parody of the films, Legends Of The Fall and The Wizard Of Oz. The title of this Daria episode is a pun, which references to Legends Of The Fall. Also, the bus driver makes a sarcastic reference to The Wizard Of Oz, when the character Sandi complains about the driver NOT stopping on HER street.
So you may be wondering, "What is this episode of Daria about?"
Daria's sister, Quinn and her clique are left stranded at the mall. Quinn calls their father asking him to pick them up. Right when he's about to get she and her clique from the mall, he starts having car problems. This leads to Jane and Trent driving Daria and her father to get Quinn and her shallow clique.
On their way to the mall, Jane and Trent share 2 "suburban legends" with Daria and her father. Meanwhile, Stacey explains another "suburban legend" to Quinn. Anyway, here is today's Cartoon Sunday.
